Searching images
With the Fotorally search form you will find a photo of your interest. Select a city or its borough, decade or filter your search with descriptive keywords.
The more locations or decades you select the more results you get, keywords on the otherdand will limit the search.
Freetext search will look for words in the captions and the list of Authors is a list of participants.
From search result you will come to a gallery, where you can seen other photos linked from other cities.
Browsing the gallery
Gallery is like a page of a photo album of the selected photo. Close gallery from the icon in the top left corner or press esc on your keyboard. Moving the mouse on top of the image opens the caption and info box.
Above the main photo is the list of other photos linked by other users to this picture. The links can visual, functional (ie. similar subject) or historical (same period). By clicking one the peer photos, you open up its gallet page and a new list of peers. This is how you browse the gallery and move in the matrix of European similarities and differences.
From a gallery page you can participate in the Fotorally with your photos by clickin the link below the main photo.
Uploading the photo
Participating in Fotorally means the you reply to some photo with your own picture. The link between photos can be visual ie. similarity in light or colors, functional ie. same or related content or historical ie. same time period. It can also be free imaginative assossication.
1) Once you find a photo in ther gallery you want to reply to click the link under it. First hind the image on your own computer and upload it us.
Use JPEG images, no more than 10 megapixels in size or files bigger than 5 megabytes. Don't optimize the images too much, it's better to reduce the size.
Before sending you need to accept to terms and give us a permission to use your photo.
2) On the second page fill up information about the picture. Tell us something, a little story if you like, about the picture and why you wanted to link it. Use your own language.
Select the city or borough and the decade the photo was taken.
Add as many keywords as you wish to describe the photo, this will help finding the photo on the search form.
Also tell us is the link to parent photo visual, functional (same subject or context) or historical (same period).
3) As Author you can use your name or a nickname. If you use the same name in all yout pictures, they can be also found from search as a separate selection.
Your email will not be given to outsiders. We use it only for announcements or to contact you.
Finally press the Send-button.
We will let you know when the photo is moderated and published.
Photos without any information (including the email) will not be published.
